Description
The Cat Nine Flail Guard is a great defensive tool for clearing away any bits and bobs that get too close to your wheels when mining. They're also pretty handy for keeping any troublemaking Techs from attacking you from the sides or back.

The GeoCorp Cat Nine Flail Guard is a grade 2 Weapon block manufactured by GeoCorp. Like all GeoCorp blocks, it can be crafted with a GeoCorp Fabricator.

It has 4 attachment point(s) and takes up 20 cell(s).

Usage[]

The Cat Nine is relatively small and compact. However, when talking about breaking rocks and trees, it is equally effective. Breaking them is just a matter of seconds. Just ramming them into them will work. It also serves as a good defensive weapon against techs that get too close as it deals a formidable amount of damage and quickly breaks the structure of smaller Techs. It has a circular AOE due to it spinning when activated and like all mining tools, contact with rocks can break them Overall, it's an effective harvesting block, combining the functions of a buzz saw and a drill/plasma cutter/jackhammer, and is just around the same size as any one of them. The range is still short, but regardless the much larger AOE compensates for that.

Trivia[]

  • The Cat Nine Flail Guard was formerly an EXP Block.
  • It was mentioned in the description of the GeoCorp Windmill Flail Guard.
    • The description of that Block states that the Windmill is a much larger, professional version of the Cat Nine, meaning that Cat Nine is probably a prototype version developed by GeoCorp, and was successful in it's area of expertise, which in turn prompted GeoCorp to develop the larger version.
  • The name is a reference to the cat o' nine tails, a type of flail made from knotted cord and used for flogging.
  • The name may also be a reference to one of GeoCorp's possibly inspirations, the construction equipment manufacturer Caterpillar Inc.
