Description
A rotating anchor that can be planted in the ground. Great for sentry guns.

The GSO Rotating Anchor is a grade 1 Manufacturing block manufactured by GSO. Like all GSO blocks, it can be crafted with a GSO Fabricator.

It has 5 attachment point(s) and takes up 1 cell(s).

Usage[]

This block is not very useful, and is in fact entirely outclassed by the GSO Anchored AI Module as well as anchors from other corps. It has low torque and medium speed, but the poor range hampers it's ability to support a sentry gun whist the Anchored AI module works much better. While that is harder to acquire, early-game players often will not need a sentry gun and by the time they do, they would have already have tools better suited for the job.

It's still useful if one has the GSO Gruntle Guard AI Module but not the Anchored AI, as the latter is harder to come across and make. Just put the AI on, add some weapons to make it usable, and you'd have a makeshift sentry gun.

As against other anchors, it does not fare well. The GeoCorp Rotating Anchor can hold entire bases while losing little rotation speed, thanks to it's massive torque, on top of having already high health. The Venture Rotating Anchor has low capacity and is quite fragile, but makes fast sentry guns that are light and agile. The Hawkeye Rotating Anchor is a mix of Venture and GeoCorp, as it is faster than average, is quite durable, and has a good capacity. Better Future Sky Anchor, well, has limitless potential and is extremely versatile so you'd be in the clouds with that. Overall, the rotating anchor is not a really good block and it's ability will quickly diminish as most blocks are able to anchor themselves properly and even when they could not, there is no reason to ever use it again.

Trivia[]

  • It has the shortest anchoring range of all anchored blocks.
