Description
The GSO Missile Battery really brings the pain. Four lock-on missiles can be launched from this pod in quick succession. They take a while to reload, but they also pack a punch when they hit, so it's not usually a problem. Their range isn't as far as Hawkeye, but they're more powerful than Venture.

The GSO Missile Battery is a grade 5 Weapon block manufactured by GSO. Like all GSO blocks, it can be crafted with a GSO Fabricator.

It has 4 attachment point(s) and takes up 8 cell(s).

It is highly explosive when destroyed.

Usage[]

In a sharp contrast to many GSO weapons, the GSO Missile battery is unique and effective. Each missile deals decent damage and four missiles combined can deal more damage than a megaton cannon shot. On top of that, they also have good accuracy, locking onto targets and only missing on the really agile ones or if it is obstructed by terrain. The missiles are not very fast, but to be sure it will hit its mark in most cases.

However, while dangerous, the missile battery has a small drawback. While it has 4 missiles, each missile takes two seconds to reload and are quickly depleted. While a quick way to inflict some heavy damage, every 4th fired missile will have a significant delay for the next burst to be fired. This could be detrimental in various situations. Also, it's pretty weak and vulnerable to attacks, so a Venture Repair Bubble will work nicely with shields to protect the missile launcher itself. Ultimately, its usage is similar to most other missiles - Batter enemies from a safe distance, where they could not reach the player. There are better tools for the job, of course, but this will be most likely the first one for anyone to get their hands on. It's also much cheaper and easier to craft/purchase too, given its lower relative costs.

Trivia[]

  • It is the only homing weapon manufactured by GSO. All other corporations that manufacture homing weapons have at least two different products.
  • The missile's reload animation is faster than it's actual reload speed, resulting a comical situation where loaded missiles cannot be fired.
  • The description implies that its range is shorter than the Hawkeye Seeker Missile Pod while dealing more damage than the Venture Avalanche Launcher. Indeed, the Avalanche has a quarter of both, rapidly firing fast but relatively weak missiles.
  • It is the second cheapest homing weapon in the entire game. The cheapest is the Venture Cluster Missile Launcher.
  • The GSO Missile Battery can be acquired much earlier during the grade 3 mission SAM Site Ridge, as with the help of melee weapons, it can be salvaged from the SAM Site, unlocking it for purchase at trading stations.
