Description |
Delivery Cannons sell unwanted items back to Earth earning money. This one is static, it will only work whilst anchored.
Low orbital interplanetary relay (LOIR) is a method was pioneered by Dr. Bernard Steen. Steen developed the process to smuggle controlled substances from one planet to another with efficiency and anonymity. On the ground a 'Delivery Cannon' is loaded with the object one wishes to send. It then blasts the payload into low orbit where a radio-controlled relay satellite collects it and sends it on the desired trajectory through space to its destination. Steen was eventually caught by the authority. He avoided prison by striking a deal to "share" the process with off-world mining corporations and interplanetary postal services. He even receives a 1% cut from the profit of each item that is sent. He currently splits his time between Titan and Mars as a tax-exile. |
The GSO Matryoshka Anchored Delivery Cannon is a grade 2 Manufacturing block manufactured by GSO. Like all GSO blocks, it can be crafted with a GSO Fabricator.
It has 12 attachment point(s) and takes up 8 cell(s).
Usage[]
Having the Matryoshka cannon is really a great help in the early game. In fact, it's a compact block perfect for bases and only losing to mobile delivery cannons, as it must be anchored to function. But the true value is that it significantly reduces one's dependence on Trading Stations. Both are able to sell resources, but the delivery cannon is basically able to be placed everywhere. With a simple tech snapshot, a basic apparatus can be quickly established at will, negating the need to head to a trading station. It has no penalty, as the sell value is unchanged. In fact, one could add a refinery to the line, increasing their total gain. It's also pretty handy when one needs to get rid of resource chunks, and when combined with the GSO Auto Miner on Erudite seams, it's a quick way to earn money early on. It's the best static delivery cannon avaliable, though it's usage heavily depends on the player's game progress.
The GSO Pacemaker can accelerate it's rate of fire, allowing resources to be processed with more efficiency. Unlike dongles for component factories, the pacemaker affects all manufacturing blocks that are directly or indirectly attached to it, so there isn't any downside at all.

Delivery cannon only shoots once in 2 conveyor steps. Therefore, to maximise efficiency it is essential to use 2 cannons and alternator to sell 1 fully loaded conveyor belt.
Trivia[]
- Matryoshka is a term describing a Russian toy. An identical set of hollow, wooden, painted dolls with a difference in size intended for smaller ones to nest inside bigger ones. This is further reinforced by it's deployment animation, where the barrel extends upwards and gets thinner when closer to the top.
- A similar animation is also seen in the GeoCorp's delivery cannon, as well as GSO and Venture's mobile delivery cannons. They all share a compact barrel that is extended when they are deployed.
- This gives hints on GSO's Russian/Soviet origin.
- Of all the anchored delivery cannons, it has the fastest deployment animation.
- While it has 4 input nodes, there is only one launch barrel, so it is only able to process one resource chunk at a time.
- It technically takes twice the space when anchored. Unlike most expanding blocks, the game treats it's technical cell count as 8 instead of 16. This allows other blocks to overlap the barrel without interfering with this block. Weapons can also fire when obstructed by the barrel, but their projectiles will not pass through.
- According to the description, technology shared by all delivery cannons were initially made to smuggle controlled substances while avoiding authorities.
- Two planets are mentioned. Mars and Titan. While Titan might be a joke, being a moon of Saturn, Mars is an actual planet that humans plan to tread on second after the moon landing. This implies that TerraTech is set many years in the future.
- However, the description also implies that the launched resources will not have any form of protection. So far, it is unknown why one can sell sensitive equipment such as the Seed AI and Mother Brain.
