Description
This Solar Panel will generate electricity for any Tech it's attached to, whilst that Tech is anchored. This block doesn't have a built-in anchor itself though as it's designed to be used mainly on floating Better Future bases that use Sky Anchors.

The Better Future Solar Panel is a grade 2 power block manufactured by Better Future. Like all Better Future blocks, it can be crafted with a Better Future Fabricator.

It has 8 attachment point(s) and takes up 2 cell(s).

Usage[ | ]

The Better Future Solar Panel is a larger solar power option compared to the GSO Tall Solar Generator, producing over double the power, but as the cost of taking up over double the space. It just needs an external anchor to support it. Without batteries, it can still power shields and repair bubbles, but the excess energy will be wasted instead of being converted to electricity, and shields/repair bubbles will not be sustainable if their abilities come into play or if night falls - They will simply shut down due to a lack of electricity.

It is usually a good idea to attach multiple high-capacity batteries (GeoCorp Battery Packs are ideal for bases) to it and protect it with repair bubbles and shields, therefore maximizing the generator's ability during the day while sustaining it in the night. Power depots can be forged with just a few more chargers.

The Better Future Solar Panel can function in any orientation, given the tech is anchored by something else. The panels being in the shade has no effect on the power output.

Trivia[ | ]

  • Compared to the GSO Tall Solar Generator the Solar Panel creates more energy (170 per second) but lacks an anchor.
  • If an anchored tech becomes unanchored, the solar panels on it will collapse at the same time. However, when it becomes anchored again the solar generators will only expand one-by-one.
  • When it contracts, it requires far less space. While this does not allow blocks to intersect with this empty space, weapons can fire through it.
  • Although it is the first Solar Panel that lacks an anchor, it would not be the last, implying Better Future may have a hand in their equivalents in other corporations.
