Accessory Blocks
AccessoryBlocks

Accessory Blocks are a category of blocks with varying functionality, usually not fitting into other categories' specialization. They provide different but specific advantages.

Blocks subtypes[]

Accessory Blocks do NOT consume electricity at all, regardless of the type.

Lights[]

Lights are illumination devices intended to ease the night time in TerraTech, although these can be considered more decorative, than functional, since night visibility is not severely impaired even without any additional illumination. Lights will remain dormant during the day and automatically activate at night.

Most lights are static, although Spotlights are capable of rotation and will direct themselves to the nearest enemy, similar to most weapons with visible turrets.

Meters[]

Main article: Meter Accessories

Meter accessories add relevant augments to the user's HUD, allowing them to monitor their tech better.

Magnets[]

Main article: Block Magnets

Magnet blocks attract loose blocks towards them in their radius. Each magnet has its own capacity, but the weight of the attracted blocks will burden the entire tech. If within range of an allied SCU/Scrapper, they will seize these blocks from the magnet.

Collectors[]

Main article: Collectors

Collectors are used pick up loose resource chunks on the ground for short-term transport purposes.

Gyroscopes[]

Main article: Gyroscopes

Gyroscopes are used to stabilize a tech, either across all or a singular directional axis.

Payload Terminals[]

Main article: Payload Terminals

Payload Terminals must be anchored to function. They have an unlimited inventory of their respective corporation's blocks for purchase.

Explosive Bolts[]

Explosive Bolts are single-use blocks which will self-destruct after hitting the assigned key when attached to the tech. The explosion produces varying amounts of explosive force, pushing blocks away and dealing minimal damage (with the exception of the Hawkeye Z4 Explosive Bolt, which does high damage), capable of affecting nearby techs. These blocks are generally used to create "Multitechs", techs that split into several individuals.

If a hostile AI is controlling a tech with Explosive Bolts, they will automatically trigger Bolts upon deployment.

Other[]

Aside from those listed above, there are certain accessory blocks that cannot be divided into any of these categories.

Functional[]

The Better Future Stabilising Computer will take control of a tech's movement systems when no input is detected, automatically stabilizing it as a result. It is primarily used on airborne techs in tandem with gyros.

The Better Future Hover Power Controller can be manually configured to alter the amount of hover output provided by suitable blocks, and additionally functions as a switch, allowing them to be manually activated and deactivated.

The Better Future Block Controller Switch can manually disable/enable Repair Bubbles, Shield Bubbles, Anti-Gravity Engines, and Hover Pads. Any disabled blocks will not consume energy if they normally require it to function.

Cosmetic[]

Most of the other accessory blocks are (semi-)decorative "hats", some of which intented to honour early kickstarter backers.

Trivia[]

  • Payload Terminals are the only accessory blocks that must be anchored to function.
  • Gyros, the Stabilising Computer and Payload Terminals tend to have higher costs compared to other accessories.
  • Certain Better Future accessories produce a unique chime when attached to a tech, instead of the usual click played by most other blocks.
